Music to Soothe Your Soul, and Gatherings
Tonight Thursday February 21, I’ll be down at the Marriott Hotel to hear Anandi sing jazz with outstanding pianist Randy Porter,
a part of the Portland Jazz Festival. This swinging vocalist sings the full spectrum of jazz from Gershwin and Jobim to Monk and Dizzy. This performance from 5 to 7 pm is one of the many free events at the Festival, which runs through this weekend.
KBOO Roots Music Programmers who have bands will play live in a benefit for the station on
Saturday the 23rd from 7 to 10 pm at St. David of Wales Church at 2800 SE Harrison, between Hawthorne and Division. It’s called, Once in a Boo Moon.
It’s a nice venue, and there will also be desserts, a raffle, and a silent auction. The silent
auction includes a getaway to the coast, some rare music CDs, and a stay in a yurt on an island in British Columbia. Captivating music will include
- Henry & Moggy
- The True Vine Ramblers
- Don McLaren & His Fiddlin’ Friends
- Retta Christie & Her One Night Stand Band
